Vardaan heads the firm’s legal function. He operates across sectors and growth stages with the private equity and public investments teams in India and the US. Besides fund structuring, Vardaan works on deals ranging from early and growth stage matters to complex PIPE investments, joint ventures, and buyouts. His notable deals include TVS Credit, SB Packaging Constantia JV, Goldplus, Tube Investments, Lenskart, Ikigai Labs, Firstcry, Medplus and Globalbees.
Prior to joining PI, he was a partner at a leading Indian law firm. With significant deal-making experience in structured investments, private credit, and real estate finance, he has also worked on 5 of India’s top 12 distressed acquisitions. Vardaan enjoys working with people at the intersection of finance and law. A graduate of the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, India, Vardaan is also currently a visiting lecturer of Insolvency & Finance Law at his alma mater, and on the Advisory Board of Ashurst’s Fintech Legal Labs.
He read Law and Finance at the Said Business School (Oxford) and was the President of the Oxford Fintech & Legaltech Society. He regularly publishes in leading business law journals. In 2022, Vardaan was India Business Law Journal’s PE/VC Lawyer of the Year.
